Fluctuating wastewater volumes pose a particular challenge for small wastewater treatment plants, especially for weekend and vacation homes. Long periods without wastewater inflow can impair the biological treatment performance. KLARO has developed special solutions for such requirements that ensure a stable purification process - even under extreme conditions.

To prevent sludge discharge, KLARO systems rely on patented siphon solutions and precise dimensioning. These ensure that even high hydraulic peak loads, such as two simultaneously emptied bathtubs (400 L in 3 minutes), can be processed without any problems.
A test on a 5-EW system under full load showed that even with an additional peak inflow, the drain water remained clear thanks to the special siphon design - during and after pumping.

Innovative solutions for maximum stability
Underload detection
An integrated pressure sensor monitors the fill level in the system.
- If there is little or no waste water inflow, no cleaning cycle is carried out.
- Instead, only minimal aeration takes place, which saves electricity and keeps the bacteria alive.
- Automatic underload detection flexibly adjusts the operation of the system to the actual demand.
Recirculation
If several cleaning cycles have failed, the control system recognizes this automatically:
- Water is recirculated between the chambers to feed nutrients from the first chamber to the activated sludge in the second chamber.
- This function is exclusively integrated in our KLARO systems.
Carbon dosing
For particularly long periods without wastewater inflow, KLARO offers the option of adding a concentrated nutrient solution to the activated sludge:
- The nutrient solution is environmentally friendly, can be stored for a long time and is completely biodegradable.
- With a low dosage, the activated sludge remains stable, even if no wastewater is produced for months.
