Wastewater treatment plants for breweries
The industrial wastewater from breweries usually comes from the cleaning of production facilities and can contain coarse materials such as
cullet, labels, spent grains and crown corks.
Strong fluctuations in wastewater volumes and loads as well as pH values can occur over the course of a week.
In principle, the water is considered to be readily biodegradable due to its favorable COD/BOD ratio, although the inflow concentrations are higher than for domestic wastewater (BOD5 values of up to 4,000 mg/l).
Process concept
Due to various coarse substances that could be contained in the wastewater, a pre-treatment system should be used for breweries.
This fulfills the following functions:
- Retention of coarse materials and equalization of fluctuating inflow values
- Storage of the inlet water
- Sludge storage
This is followed by cleaning using the KLARO SBR process.
